Belles Fundraise Through Local History

Many of us think we know our local area fairly well, but tucked away off Lower Road in #Fetcham, it turns out that there is the most beautiful Queen Ann mansion, complete with equisite stairway, murals, ceiling paintings and fountains, that most of our members had never stepped foot in, let alone known about. The house is Fetcham Park House and last night over £400 was raised to carry on the good work of a former guest speaker to us, Bowelbabe Deborah James for the Bowelbabe Fund. Thanks to the generosity of Sandra and Malcom we were able to set foot, where a form of house has existed since before the #DomesdayBook, to attend a fantastically interesting talk by local historian, Vivien White. Vivien took us through the history of the manor and those that lived there or were influential in the different stages of its evolution. We would like to express a special thank you to the Youngs and their staff and to Vivien for making the evening possible. Fetcham Park will be open to the public for @heritageopendays on Saturday 9th September.
