February’s monthly meeting saw 70 members enthralled by Laura Hamilton , presenter of Channel 4’s A Place In The Sun , talking about her life in television and her other business enterprises. Having started as a runner at Channel 4 she then became a children’s television presenter and through this got opportunities to take part in Dancing on Ice and The Jump, the latter when her oldest child was a few weeks old! She joined A Place in the Sun in 2012 and has worked there ever since, taking her children on overseas filming with her. Our members were interest to know that she also bought her local village shop which during the Covid pandemic provided food deliveries to local residents. Laura has experienced negativity through being in the public eye and believes passionately that women need to empower and support each other both in business and in their private lives, just as we aim to do at our WI!
