The film stars Judi Dench (who is highly tipped for an Oscar), Ali Fazal, Eddie Izzard, Michael Gambon and Simon Callow amongst others. It tells the story of Abdul Karim who arrives from India to participate in the Queen’s golden jubilee. He and the Queen form an unlikely and devoted alliance which the household and her inner circle try to destroy.
