On a cold Friday in February 24 Belles made their way to HMP Highdown in Sutton for another visit to The Clink restaurant.
After going through security the ladies were ushered through the prison gates looking forward to a fabulous lunch – and that’s exactly what they got!
Inside you would never believe that you were in a Cat B prison establishment although the plastic cutlery was a bit of a giveaway.
Our lunch was beautiful and served with excellence by the Clink workers who are all serving offenders. We were treated to a fabulous talk from Annie the General Manager, who explained the workings of the restaurant and how the offenders are regulated, educated and helped on release from prison. It was a very enlightening afternoon. We were all given a lovely book of poetry written by those serving in prison and it was very heartfelt.
Following its success again we will be arranging another visit for those who couldn’t make this trip. A Great afternoon.
