On Saturday a full coach load of Belles headed off to Winchester to visit the beautiful Christmas markets and Cathedral. There is nothing like shopping and a lunch promise to whet our appetites and it turned out to be a fabulous day full of laughter and fun for everyone.
After a lovely meander through the beautifully lit markets, a large group headed off after lunch to have a guided tour of the wonderful cathedral which was stunning. We learned a great deal from our tour guide about the destruction and resurrection of the beautiful west window and the fact that it is the burial site of Jane Austen.
Even a late afternoon power cut throughout the town couldn’t dampen the Belles spirit, maybe it was the Christmassy feeling or more likely the copious amounts of free alcohol tasting and the warming mulled wine that fuelled our laughter. It was a fantastic day and everyone who went is hoping to re-visit next year, or perhaps a different Christmas Market!
